Lady Gaga stole the spotlight while hosting Saturday Night Live (SNL) when she playfully commented on her latest film, Joker: Folie à Deux, which nabbed a Razzie award for the worst sequel category.
“Anyway, I’m an actress now,” said the Oscar and Grammy winner during her opening monologue.
“I picked a film that showcases my serious acting skills, like Joker 2. People say this movie is amazing. Me and Joaquin [Phoenix] even got nominated for a Razzie, which is the award for the worst film of the year. We won the category for ‘worst on-screen duo,’” she said with a laugh.
Still, Gaga looked at it from a bright side.
“But who’s losing here? I love winning awards. This Razzie brings me one step closer to an EGORT. It’s like an EGOT, but painful,” she said, referring to the big entertainment accolades.
She also added, “Tonight, I promise to act, sing, and not make Joker 3.”
Joker: Folie à Deux is the sequel to the film Joker, directed by Todd Phillips. Joaquin Phoenix returns as the Joker, while Lady Gaga plays Lee Quinzel, his lover.
The movie dominated the Razzie Awards nominations with seven categories and took home two wins: Worst Prequel, Sequel, Remake or Rip-Off and Worst Screen Combo.
On top of that, Lady Gaga just dropped her sixth studio album titled Mayhem, featuring 14 tracks, including Disease and Die With a Smile – a song that won a Grammy Award. – BOOM!
