Singer Datuk Nora Ariffin shocked many when she openly admitted that she plans to file for divorce from her husband, Dr. Rushdi Ramli.
Through a post on her Instagram Story (IGS) last night, Nora, 52, explained that the decision was made to fulfill the long-standing wish of her stepdaughter, Aya Shahirah Rushdi, who reportedly wanted them to separate.
“I will fulfill Aya’s long-standing wish for us to divorce. Insya-Allah, Ustazah Rose will return to being monogamous as desired,” she shared.
According to the Renungan Terakhir singer, she also hopes the divorce will put an end to the slander and criticism directed at her on social media.
“I am persuading Ustaz to divorce me for the second time so that there will be no more slander, insults, or public hatred toward me.”
As a step to avoid prolonged controversy, Nora has also deleted all photos with her husband on Instagram.
“I have deleted all our photos; only group photos remain. I apologize and admit that everything is my fault. Ustazah Rose is a noble person who has never been at fault.”
In a separate post, Nora hinted at taking legal action against individuals she accused of spreading slander against her for several years.
“Since 2019, I have never spoken up or responded to all the words directed at me on social media. But now, the damage has been done. Let the law decide.”
Previously, controversy between Nora and her stepdaughter erupted when the singer claimed she was called a ‘promiscuous woman.’ However, Aya denied the accusation and claimed to have evidence of conversations showing Nora had also insulted her family.
For context, Nora and Rushdi married in 2021. However, in August last year, Nora uploaded a video of her husband pronouncing a divorce against her before they reconciled in September 2024. – BOOM!
